For the weeks of September 8, 2019
Dear Members of Pax Christi,
Thank you for your magnanimous support of the diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga during the Missionary Appeal by Fr. Solomon Yinwaat Soabil a few weekends ago. With your generosity, the parish was able to send $16,899 to benefit the priests of this diocese in Ghana.
Last Tuesday, the parish began a new year of Leadership meetings, with 73 of your parishioners gathering information, discerning, and planning for the near and longer-term future of the parish. The ministry councils represent various aspects of this faith community: Arts, Campus, and Gardens; Care and Support; Communications; Hospitality and Community Outreach; Finance and Development; Justice; Lay Leadership Development and Engagement; Lifelong Faith Formation; and Worship. Thank you to those who have discerned that their gifts of leadership and passion to grow what is best for Pax Christi can be utilized for the service of all. There is still room for 13 members collectively on the Lifelong Faith Formation, Justice, Lay Leadership Development and Engagement, Hospitality and Community Outreach, Worship, and Communications Councils. Please let me know if you are interested in learning more about the activities of these councils with a possibility of joining one of them.
There have been a few changes of personnel to the Community Council, the guiding body of the parish. Shari Steffen, who has been one of the two trustees of the parish for the past seven years, has resigned her position. Carolyn Zucker has accepted the appointment of Fr. Mike as the new trustee, and will join our other trustee, Bruce Koehn, in fulfilling this leadership role in the parish. I want to thank Shari for her generous service to this parish, sharing her wisdom, strategic insight, and wonderful passion for the goodness and growth of this faith community. I wish to welcome Carolyn and thank her for her “yes” to this important role in the parish. Carolyn’s most recent work on the Strategic Plan of the parish will greatly enhance her role as trustee, a two-year term.
Dave Wagner has served Pax Christi faithfully over the last two years as the chair of the Community Council. His three-year term as a member of the Community Council has ended, and Fred Baumer was nominated amongst the Community Council members, and accepted their decision to lead as the new council chair for this fiscal year. Thank you to both Dave and Fred for your time and dedication to carry forth the mission, purpose, and values of the parish.
Blessings to you this week!

A LABYRINTH WALK: MANAGING STRESS
Monday, September 17, 6:30-8:30pm, Hall of Martyrs
“I’m so stressed” is an all too familiar response in today’s world. Bombarded with 24/7 news delivering the latest problem or crisis, pressures at work, financial obligations, relationship concerns, it’s no wonder people are feeling tense and burned out.The good news is that there are ways to help reduce stress. Walking the labyrinth is one. The Labyrinth is used world-wide as a way to reduce stress, encourage life balance, quiet the mind and open the heart. It is a walking meditation, a path of prayer. The labyrinth has only one path that leads from the outer edge in a circuitous way to the center. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Unlike a maze where you lose your way, the labyrinth is a spiritual tool that can help you find your way. Join us and experience how the labyrinth can help you reduce stress. There is no fee but please

When Pax Christi Catholic Church was established, the spirit of Vatican II was its essence. Many contemporaneous Catholics think of Vatican II as making significant changes only in our sacred liturgies and sacraments. However, several of the documents that came from Vatican II go deeply into how each of us baptized as Catholics are to live in theworld. In this four-week series, we will reflect upon and discuss excerpts from a different document each week. There is no fee but please
