For the week of Sunday, February 10, 2019
Dear Members of Pax Christi,
This weekend is the Quarterly Ministry Showcase after all the Masses. We have a number of ministries that have an immediate need for your positive impact and participation. There are a number of hospitality needs, particularly with the Cana Dinner, the Ash Wednesday Soup Supper, and the Easter Vigil Celebration. Money Counters are still needed on Sunday mornings, and we are also in need of leaders for Children’s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday mornings and with our youth. These opportunities are wonderful ways to form community and be in relationship with each other. Please view the "serving hub" on our website and select "Immediate Needs"
and discern how the Spirit of God is moving you to share in the blessings of being of service to others.
On Friday evening, March 8, the St. John’s University Men’s Chorus will be here to give a concert to the parish beginning at 7:30pm. They will be traveling to another parish in the diocese the next day to provide another concert. We still need housing for 23 young men on the evening of March 8. If you are able to accommodate two or three choir members at your home overnight, please let me know. Thank you in advance for your hospitality!
Blessings to you this winter week!

SACRAMENTS OF HEALING PRESENTATION BY FR MIKE
Reconciliation and Anointing
Sunday, February 10, 6:30–7:30pm, Room 212
Fr. Byron is inviting parishioners to sit alongside our RCIA participants and deepen our understanding of the sacraments. During the first of two evening presentations, Fr. will address the sacraments of healing. The healing sacraments of reconciliation and anointing not only bring us closer to God, but bring us back to community. Healing sacraments assure us that we are never alone on our journey to God. On Sunday, February 10, come to the 5:00pm Mass, enjoy dinner, then expand your knowledge and spirituality of the healing sacraments. No RSVP is required.
CAST INTO THE DEEP: G. K. CHESTERTON
Monday, February 11, beginning with a meal at 6:00pm RSVP
How does one engage a culture befuddled by Christ and suspicious of the Church? The life and witness of this 19th-century literary convert and author of the Fr. Brown mystery stories shows that the fundamental disposition of effective evangelism is joy, and life in Christ is a day-to-day encounter with an abundant and surprising offer of grace. In this fifth and penultimate episode of the video series Catholicism: The Pivotal Players, Bishop Robert Barron and his team travel to Oxford, London, Beaconsfield, and all of the locations that played a significant role in the formation and vocation of G.K. Chesterton. The series is non-linear, so it’s not a problem if you miss a session or join any time. The series will take place in the Hall of Martyrs. There will be an optional meal served at 6:00pm and an introduction followed by DVD viewing at 6:30pm. There will be table and large group discussion from 7:45–8:15pm. Prayer/Eucharistic adoration will be held from 8:15–8:30pm in the Thomas Merton Chapel. The nursery will be available with minimum 10-day notice.
THE COMPANION SUIT: Our Seven Energies
Tuesday, February 12, 6:00–8:00pm, $5.00 optional materials fee
In the SoulCollage® process, we collage seven cards for the Companion Suit of a SoulCollage® Deck. The cards in this suit are mirrors for your physical energies, their flow, their blockages, and their changing ability to help and heal…or to hinder and hurt. This energy flow can be opened, balanced, and directed so that it flows more freely and naturally through the body. Your SoulCollage® cards in this suit can be used in many ways to help you towards this balance. The Companion Suit is one of the most mysterious, yet ultimately gratifying suits, to work with. There will be a guided meditation specific to this suit, followed by card making and journaling on guided questions about your cards. This workshop is offered for individuals who already understand the basics of SoulCollage®. It will focus entirely on the Companion Suit. If you are interested in beginning SoulCollage® and want to attend this workshop, please contact Lynn to provide you with resources to learn the basics of SoulCollage® beforehand. If there are enough requests from beginners, an Introduction to SoulCollage® workshop may be provided in advance. Questions? Contact Lynn Schelitzche, email@example.com.

There is an open invitation for all parishioners to join our RCIA participants on Sunday, February 24, as Fr. Byron presents the sacraments of vocation. The sacraments of vocation, which are marriage and ordination, are unavoidably public witnesses which impact not only those who “receive” those sacraments, but the whole church to which they bear witness. Come to the 5:00pm Mass, enjoy dinner, then further your knowledge of the sacraments of vocation. No RSVP is required.
